Important Information
  • What if I can’t make my lesson?

Email music@illuminationlearningstudio.com to inform your teacher. a. Simply informing your instructor will not guarentee a make-up lesson. 2. Go to "Online Scheduler" on the Student Resources page to find available times. a. music@illuminationlearningstudio.com will provide rescheduling help if needed. b. Make-ups can be taught by instructor at any location 3. Find an available time and reschedule your lesson. 4. Make-up lessons must occur within the same month as the original lesson. There are no "roll-over" lessons. *There will be no refunds for lessons that are cancelled within 48 hours of the origional lesson time
  • Why should I learn to play an instrument?
Learning to play an instrument has multiple benefits for people from all walks of life. Among these benefits are improved creativity, patience, confidence, discipline, and memory. Furthermore, sharing your appreciation for music can improve your social life, reduce stress, build a sense of achievement, and best of all, it's really fun.
  • How much should I practice?
There is no such thing as practicing too little. There is, however, an old adage that has been modified in recent years to "perfect practice makes perfect." This means that it is not about how often you practice, but how well you practice. Our instructors will teach you the practice techniques and mindsets needed to become a proficient player.
  • What if I don't have an instrument to practice on?
Illumination offers take-home instruments as a material fee. Pricing and availablilty can be found in the "Lessons" section of our website. If we do not provide the necessary instrument, then we encourage you to inquire with our partners in the community.
  • Is Illumination Music Studio open during public school breaks?
Music lessons and classes will continue during public school breaks. If you need to reschedule/cancel your lesson, please notify music@illuminationlearningstudio.com. We are more than happy to help you reschedule lessons. For the livelihood of our instructors, we ask that you are proactive in scheduling and communicating missed lessons. In the event of an ILS Day Closure (there are only a few) or missed lessons, we ask that you reschedule your lesson with the Online Scheduler for another day in the week. Make-up lessons must be made up within the same month. There are no "roll-over" lessons into the upcoming month. *Lessons cannot be cancelled within 48 hours of the lesson. No refund will be given.
  • Where do I get music books?
ILS will provide the books, sheet music, and ther reading materials needed for your lessons. We charge a material fee for books, lab equipment, rewards, and other necessities. If there is a book outside of assigned lesson books that you would like to work in, you will be responsible for supplying the book.
  • What if I want to discontinue my lessons?
We understand that music may not be everyone's forte. Illumination's Music Lessons are a year-long commitment and—per the registration paperwork—our cancellation policy is as follows: 1. I understand that payments will continue until I notify ILS by email or in writing. 2. You may withdraw at anytime with to music@illuminationlearningstudio.com, however ILS requires a minimum of 10 days notice prior to the next billing date. 3. Partial refunds are not given for students who are withdrawn part-way through a month, for which has already been paid. Payments will not be refunded.
  • How do I schedule lessons at ILS?
Go to our Current Students page and click on the "Schedule a Lesson" button.
  • What if I've never played music before?
No problem. Illumination's music instructors are university trained and have experience performing with orchestras, rock bands, and as soloists. No matter your skill level, we will be able to find the correct teacher for your education.
